That’s the power of music.

Music has always been an important part of human culture. From ancient tribal chants to the thumping beats of today’s hip-hop tracks, music has evolved over the decades. In recent years, it feels like music has taken on an even bigger role, especially for younger generations and for me. It serves as a source of comfort and identity.

After a long, stressful day at school, I finally get a moment to pop on my headphones. For how long? Aha... it depends on my mum’s mood. But even she knows that music instantly energizes my body and makes me more productive for the rest of the day… No..No..No..I should say, the rest of the evening! That’s the power of music.
Recently, I discovered that listening to music can have a magical effect on our emotions. I read an article a few days ago that mentioned how scientists say music can lower stress. That’s why so many people turn to music to calm down before a big exam or after a hectic day. Learning an instrument, for example, isn’t just a way to express creativity—it strengthens memory, coordination, and even improves math skills.
This is another thing I learned from that article. When I listen to music or play my piano, it feels like a full body workout for my brain, which might explain why kids who take music lessons often perform better academically.
What better way is there to connect with others than through music? Think about it: concerts, festivals, and even online listening parties are shared experiences where people come together to feel. There’s a reason why strangers sing along together at concerts or why friends share playlists with each other.
Music breaks down all kinds of barriers. I have many friends at school—yes, in Canada—and many of us come from different languages and ethnicities. But when we talk about music, we’re all on the same page and talk about the same notes!
With the rise of social media platforms like TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube, young people have taken the musical community to the next level. These platforms allow anyone with a smartphone to discover tracks from artists around the world. The new generation thrives on these shared moments. I get to enjoy some of these experiences too—but let me tell you, only “under my mum’s supervision!”
Ultimately, music, and especially the piano, is my favorite thing because it’s so unique. It’s a friend when I’m feeling down, a helper when I need to get things done, and a celebration when I’m happy.
So, Bye for now and let me go to my Sis..to proofread this article!!!
No wonder so many students are seen with earbuds plugged in, using music as their secret weapon. It’s my musical Ninja too.
